Topic: Perseverance Scripture: Luke 10:25-28, Ephesians 2:8-10, Galatians 3:19-24, Titus 2:11-14

How do you keep going when you are walking in darkness and do not see any light of your own?

By way of quick review, we have learned:

I. We must have a realistic understanding of the Christian life this side of the new heavens and earth.

Christian perfection does not come until death or until Christ returns.

II. Consider the mixed nature of the lives of believers throughout redemptive history.

The biblical account is very clear that all believers, at their very best, are simultaneously justified and sinners.

III. Be assured that grace abounds to Christians who sin.

Let us never lose sight of the comforting truth that Christ’s death saves even Christians from sin.

IV. We learned from Psalm 6 how to respond to a dark night of the soul.

This brings us to a fifth insight on how to keep going when you are walking in darkness and do not see any light of your own. Today, we will see that we must:

V. Never allow the doctrine of perseverance to be turned into a covenant of works.
