Why the sacraments—baptism and the Lord’s Supper? Why do they have a central role in corporate worship and the Christian life? In short, the sacraments, when they are related to the preaching of the gospel, serve as “aids to our faith.” Through them, the Holy Spirit sustains, nourishes, confirms and increases our faith.
