Introduction:

Proposition Statement: In John 10:27-30, Jesus reveals six unchanging truths that demonstrate the security and richness of the believer’s relationship with the Good Shepherd, so that we may find assurance and rest in His unfailing care.

Lesson:

I.   The Shepherd Knows His Sheep (v. 27a)

II.  The Sheep Follow Their Shepherd (v. 27b)

III. The Shepherd Gives Eternal Life (v. 28a)

IV.  The Sheep Are Secure in the Shepherd’s Hand (v. 28b)

V.   The Father Secures the Sheep (v. 29)

VI.  The Shepherd and the Father Are One (v. 30)

Conclusion

These six truths provide the believer with unshakable assurance. The Shepherd knows His sheep, the sheep follow Him, He gives them eternal life, He holds them securely, the Father guarantees their safety, and the Shepherd and the Father are one.
These realities form the foundation of the believer’s confidence in their relationship with
Jesus is our eternal King, who governs us by His Word and Spirit, and defends and preserves us in the redemption obtained for us. Because of these truths, we can rest in the unfailing care of our Good Shepherd, confident that nothing can separate us from His love. This security is not contingent on our strength but on His unwavering hold on us.
May we rejoice in the unbreakable Shepherd-sheep relationship that Christ has secured for us, as He reigns over us with grace, love, and unwavering authority. This relationship is a source of joy and peace, reflecting the perfect care and sovereign rule of our Good Shepherd-King.
