What is the Gospel?

Text: 1 Corinthians 15:1-8

Outline:

What is truly unique about Christianity is the specific content of the Bible’s unfolding narrative, namely the gospel. The Old Testament teaches the gospel in promise. The New Testament teaches the gospel in fulfillment. The gospel in fulfillment consists of three aspects of one inseparable saving act on our behalf, which is of first importance, namely Christ's (Messiah's) death, burial and resurrection.

I. Christ (Messiah) died for our sins. 1 Cor. 15:3

II. Christ (Messiah) was buried for us. 1 Cor. 15:4a

III. Christ (Messiah) was raised for us. 1 Cor. 15:4b
