Introduction:

I.     Jesus Condemns Unrighteous Prayer. 6:5-8

II.   Jesus Commends Righteous Prayer. 6:9-13

     A.     Righteous prayer focuses on the adoption of the Father. v. 9b

     B.     Righteous prayer focuses on the honor of the Father. v. 9c

     C.     Righteous prayer focuses on the kingdom of the Father. v. 10a

     D.     Righteous prayer focuses on the will of the Father. v. 10b

     E.    Righteous prayer focuses on the provision of the Father. v. 11

     F.    Righteous prayer focuses on the forgiveness of the Father. v. 12

     G.     Righteous prayer focuses on the deliverance of the Father. v. 13

Lesson:

Why would Jesus teach us to ask our Father, “Lead us not into temptation?”

Does this petition imply that God the Father may lead us into temptation (i.e., entice/solicit us to sin)?

Is Jesus teaching us to ask the Father to deliver us from testing?

Reflection:

“The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.” 2 Tim. 4:18
