Part 2

Text: Titus 3:8-11

Introduction/Review

I.     Remember The Duties of Good Citizenship. 3:1-2

II.    Remember the Source of Good Citizenship. 3:3-7

III.   Deal With The Threats To Good Citizenship. 3:8-11

      A.    Believers must devote themselves to good works. v. 8

Lesson:

     B.    Church leadership must avoid foolish disputes. v. 9

“The theologian’s task is not to divert the ears with chatter, but to strengthen consciences by teaching things true, sure and profitable,” (Calvin, Institutes, 20:164).

Reflection:

1.   There will always be contentious men who never cease to annoy faithful gospel teachers and churches.

2.   Paul’s directive serves to keep church leadership on task.

3.   Paul reveals the necessity and importance of godly leadership that teaches sound doctrine and avoids

      foolish errors.
